alcohol and south beach diet

I guess you could say I have been doing some experimenting with the south beach diet and how the body responds to alcohol while on the program.  I have had no beer as beer is obviously loaded with calories and carbs but I have tried white rum with diet soda.

Seems that after having a few drinks my body is bloated and my weight has increased the next day (as much as 3 pounds!)  I am still eating from the phase 1 of the south beach program.  With alcohol the program is definately not effective.  I am going to remove the “hard” alcohol so I can continue with my success on the program.  Hoping that my weekly weigh-in tomorrow will still show some success for the past week…
